Is it just me, or is there something about walking the streets of New York that make you feel like you’re on the set of a Barbra Streisand movie? No lie, I walked past the Plaza Hotel and bam! I thought I was in The Way We Were. Ok, maybe thats a bit of an exaggeration, but who wouldn’t love to see Robert Redford standing right outside the Plaza? Or anywhere for that matter.
On my travels up and down the streets of New York, I have found the quintessential New York eatery, hence the name of this blog post. Baz Bagels, located on 181 Grand Street is your one stop shop for all things bagels and all things Barbra! I am not even exaggerating in the least bit here. Their business cards feature various photos of Babs and there is even a poster of her hanging on the wall, right over one of the tables. In my opinion, that is truly the best seat in the place. They also honor other stars, such as Bette Midler and Dolly Parton. The bagels are excellent. I went home this weekend and had a cinnamon raisin bagel from Dunkin’ Donuts and paled in comparison to the ones you can get at Baz. The BLT, Pizza Bagel and the Everything Schnitzel sandwich are also some favorites of mine. The staff? Super-friendly and go above and beyond to make sure your Baz experience is extraordinary; whether it be table service or take out. Te restaurant itself is adorable. Black and white mosaic tile on the floor and the walls painted a soft baby pink. Truly something else. If you’re ever in the Village and you find yourself subconsciously singing along to The Essential Barbra Streisand as one often does, be sure to stop into Baz Bagel. You definitely will not be disappointed.
Have a cinnamon raisin for me!
